For expert and advanced skiers and riders, Silverton Mountain Ski Area provides excellent lift accessible backcountry-type terrain. Do not come looking for groomed runs, crowds, or condos. What you will find here are wide open bowls, great tree runs, and the finest natural skiing Colorado has to offer, with views that will boggle the mind. Guided skiing only during certain dates.

Ice Climbing
Silverton has world-class ice climbing routes right outside of town and throughout the surrounding area.  Experienced climbers can test their limits through beautiful gorges and high drainages. Beginners can learn from some of the best guides at the Ouray Ice Cimbing Park.

Silverton has many snowmobiling options available. The Silverton Snowmobile Club grooms many miles of multi-use trails with easy access from town on US Highway 550, including at Molas Lake. Ice Pirates provides guided tours in the highcountry with incredible mountain vistas.
