About Caldera

Founded in 2009 by Christine Chambers Gober, Caldera Tribal is a high altitude dance troupe based in the remote mountain town of Silverton, Colorado, where we study American Tribal Style® and Tribal Fusion belly dance at an elevation of 9,318 feet.  The word Caldera is Spanish for “cauldron,” and is also defined as the large bowl-shaped depression formed by the explosion and collapse of a volcano. Our hometown sits in a valley formed by such an explosion - hence our name, which also hints at the fiery passion with which we dance.

Caldera is the only FatChanceBellyDance® Sister Studio on Colorado's western slope, serving communities from Grand Junction in the north to Durango and Pagosa Springs in the southwest, as well as the broader Four Corners region (Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah).

Lisa Branner - Director

Lisa’s love of dance began at an early age with childhood ballet, tap, and jazz classes. She has been studying American Tribal Style® and Tribal Fusion Belly Dance since 2007. As a founding member and current director of Caldera Tribal, she has performed extensively since that time. Lisa received General Skills Certification in ATS® from Carolena Nericcio-Bohlman in May 2012 and Teacher Training and FatChanceBellyDance® Sister Studio status in August 2014. She re-certifies annually through the FCBD® Sister Studio Continuing Education Program. Lisa also completed and passed Rachel Brice's 8 Elements Phase One: Initiation in July 2013 and Phase Two: Cultivation in October 2014. As a perpetual student, she is continually building her dance skills and knowledge by attending classes and workshops across the country. Lisa teaches weekly ATS® classes in Silverton, CO, offers regional workshops, and produces belly dance events in the Four Corners area. Her annual Tribal Summit brings world class instructors to Silverton each fall for an immersive weekend of belly dance workshops and community building.
